of the 29th hovember following from which it will be seen that in consideration of the gratuitous and friendly assistance afforded to the French Catholic Clergy, and Sisters of Charity by Mr Morrison", "the Mimister for Foreign Affairs of the French Republic would be disposed to recommend to the President to confer the decoration of the Legion of Honour upon Dr Morrison, if the Encens Government would permit him to accept that distinction".
